Why Us

Why Auburn Hills homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup

We are at the property in about an hour

A person picks up our line at any hour of any day, every day of the year. There is no answering service and no message held until morning. Auburn Hills addresses are usually reached inside an hour. After a fire that hour matters, because soot keeps moving through the house long after the flames are out.

The inspection is free and nothing gets signed

We walk the property with you at no cost. We show you what we find and we explain it in plain words. What we will not do is stand in your driveway and hand you a final number. On a fire loss the real extent hides behind surfaces, and it does not show itself until those surfaces are opened and cleaned. Anyone who gives you an exact figure at the door has guessed.

We deal with your adjuster directly

We document the loss for your claim, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and a copy comes to you so you see everything your adjuster sees. We speak with your adjuster, answer their questions and talk to any other trade working the property. If a carrier tells you that you must use one of their preferred vendors, that is not so. When you hire us, we are contracted by you.

Local, and at this a long time

We are based in Rochester Hills, so Auburn Hills is close by rather than a distant job. Before this company existed, its founders worked in construction, in contracting and in cleaning. That history shows on a fire loss. We read what heat and smoke have done to framing, subfloor and insulation, not only what is visible from the middle of the room.

We know what gets built in this city

Most of what stands in Auburn Hills went up between about 1970 and the end of the 1990s, so ranches, colonials and split-levels from those decades make up a lot of the housing. Alongside them sit condominium, townhome and apartment communities, a number of them close to Oakland University. Shared walls and shared roof space change how far smoke travels, because it does not stop at a unit line.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

The water line to our ice maker burst and caused a huge mess. Once the plumber discovered where the leak was, he recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation. They responded FAST and had dryers going for the floor in our kitchen and basement. Austin was our Mitigation Project Manager, he and everyone on his...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our fire damage repair process in Auburn Hills, MI

Step 1. You call and we pick up

Call at any hour and a person answers, not a recording. We ask what burned, where it started and whether the building is safe to enter. We tell you what to do while you wait for us. Then we dispatch, and about an hour is the normal arrival time in Auburn Hills.

Step 2. A free walkthrough, with you

The first thing we do at the property is go through it with you. There is no charge for the walkthrough and no form attached to it. We point out where smoke has gone and what it has reached, including rooms the fire itself never touched. You will hear what we think before anyone starts work.

Step 3. We secure the property

A building that is open to the weather keeps losing ground. We board up openings, cover what needs covering and close the structure off so nothing else gets in. We also make sure the areas we work in are safe to be in. Every piece of equipment we bring is cleaned and decontaminated before it comes through the door.

Step 4. Cleaning the building, and the water in it

Our work is the building itself. We clean the structural surfaces the smoke reached and we take out material that cannot be brought back, and we explain why before it goes. The fire service also put a great deal of water into the property, and that water is now sitting in floors and wall cavities, so we handle that at the same time. We restore the structure and not the contents, so belongings needing cleaning are handled by a contents company. A crew is normally on site for one day per visit, four to eight hours or more.

Step 5. The invoice and your claim

If a claim is open, we document everything your adjuster needs and stay in the conversation with them until it settles. Everything on your invoice is priced off a current Xactimate list, the same one most carriers work from, so no line is ours alone. It reaches you three to five business days after we finish and falls due thirty days later. GreenSky financing is there if the timing is hard.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Auburn Hills, MI

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How fast can you reach an Auburn Hills address after a fire?

A person answers our line at every hour of the day and night, all year, and our usual arrival time in Auburn Hills is about an hour. Soot does not sit still once the fire is out. It keeps moving through the building and settles on cool surfaces in rooms that never burned. The sooner we are there, the less of that spread we are cleaning later.

What happens to our belongings after a fire in Auburn Hills?

We restore the structure. We are not a contents company, so cleaning, packing or storing furniture, clothing and personal items is not work we take on. That part goes to a contents firm instead. We will tell you plainly which is which when we walk the property, so nobody is waiting on us for something we do not do.

Can you board up an Auburn Hills property that is open after a fire?

Yes. Securing the building is one of the first things we do. Openings get boarded and the structure gets closed off so weather and anything else stay outside. A property left open keeps taking damage after the fire is out, and that is avoidable. Tell us when you call and we will bring what we need.

Who deals with the insurance company on an Auburn Hills fire claim?

We do, once a claim is open. We document the loss for your claim with photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you get a copy of everything we hand over. We talk to your adjuster and to any other trade on the job, so you are not carrying messages between people. Filing the claim is yours to do, because it is your policy.

What does the free inspection cover at an Auburn Hills property?

Nothing is charged and nothing is signed. We go through the property with you room by room and point out what the fire, the smoke and the firefighting water have actually reached, including rooms the flames never entered. Smoke settles well beyond the burned area. We explain what we are seeing and what the work involves.
