Step 1. You call and we secure the house
Call our 24/7 line from somewhere safe; after the fire department lets us in, a crew closes broken windows and doors with board-up. If officials allow it first, remove anything valuable that can be seen through the openings, like a laptop, jewelry or medication.
Step 2. We inspect the fire and smoke damage
Acrylic and fiberglass tub surrounds and shower bases can warp or yellow from heat even when the flames stayed in the next room. Our technician checks them, along with mirrors, vanity tops and the smoke residue on bathroom walls, and photographs each room.
Step 3. We remove water, soot and debris
Firefighters often pull down wet insulation and drywall and leave it in piles, and those piles keep the floor underneath soaked. They go out as debris first, then water extraction and drying equipment work on the subfloor and the walls around it.
Step 4. We clean and deodorize
Light fixtures and bulbs coated with soot can give off a burnt smell each time they warm up, so the inside of each fixture gets cleaned, not just the shade. Walls, ceilings and trim get soot removal next, and deodorizing deals with any lingering smell.
Step 5. We rebuild and handle the paperwork
Reconstruction is ours as well. If heat reached the well pump or water lines, test the water before drinking it, and St. Clair County's Health Department says private well owners are responsible for that sampling. You and the insurer get our invoice, which asks for direct payment.
