Why Us

Why Farmington Hills homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup

About an hour and we are with you

Our phone is answered by a person at any hour, on any day, all year round. No message service sits between you and a crew. Farmington Hills is a large city, but about an hour is still the normal time from your call to our arrival. Once a fire is out the soot carries on moving, so those first minutes are worth protecting.

Free walkthrough, no signature required

We come and look at the property with you at no cost, and nothing has to be signed to get us there. We say what we see as we work through the building. We will not put a final number on the job at your front door. Fire damage hides behind surfaces and only shows its full size once those surfaces are opened and cleaned.

Your adjuster deals with us directly

The documentation of the loss goes to your carrier, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you get all of it as well so you can read what has been recorded. We speak with your adjuster and with any other trade working the job. Carriers sometimes press their own vendors, and they are not entitled to insist. Hire us and the contract is between you and us.

A local company, at this for many years

We are based in Rochester Hills. Farmington Hills is part of the ground we cover, not a long haul. Our founders spent their careers in construction, contracting and cleaning before starting the business, and that is how we approach a fire loss. We read framing, subfloor and insulation, then tell you which of it survives and which does not.

We know what is behind the walls here

Farmington Hills grew mostly from the 1950s through the 1980s. The ranches sit nearer the Farmington border, the colonials came through the 1970s in the middle of the city, and the subdivisions of the 1980s and 1990s spread out toward 13 and 14 Mile. Large open plan ranches from the 1980s are common, and there are many condominium complexes as well. An open plan gives smoke a clear run through the house, and shared walls in a condominium carry it into homes that never burned.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

The water line to our ice maker burst and caused a huge mess. Once the plumber discovered where the leak was, he recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation. They responded FAST and had dryers going for the floor in our kitchen and basement. Austin was our Mitigation Project Manager, he and everyone on his...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our fire damage repair process in Farmington Hills, MI

Step 1. We answer, whatever time it is

Call at any hour and someone here answers. We ask what burned, where it started and whether the fire service has released the property. We give you instructions to follow until the crew gets there. A crew then goes out, and roughly an hour later it is at your Farmington Hills address.

Step 2. We go through the building with you

We walk the property with you before any work happens. It costs nothing and there is no paperwork. We point out how far the smoke has gone, which in an open plan house is usually the whole floor. You will know what we are proposing before we begin.

Step 3. We shut the building against the weather

An open building goes on being damaged after the fire. We board the openings and secure the structure against weather and entry. We confirm the areas we are working in are safe to occupy. Each piece of equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it enters the building.

Step 4. We clean the structure and take care of the water

The building is what we restore. We clean the structural surfaces the smoke has reached and remove what cannot be saved, explaining each decision first. The fire service also put water through the property, and that water is now inside floors and walls, so we take it on in the same job. The contents of the house are somebody else's job, and a contents company takes them. Crews run four to eight hours or more on a working day.

Step 5. The bill, and your claim

Any figure on our invoice can be checked against a current Xactimate list, because that is where the pricing comes from and most carriers use the same one. It reaches you three to five business days after the work is complete, with payment expected within thirty days. Once a claim is open we document everything the file needs and the adjuster hears from us until it settles. Financing through GreenSky is an option we can talk about.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Farmington Hills, MI

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How soon can you reach a Farmington Hills address after a fire?

Our line is answered by a person at any hour of the day or night, all year, and about an hour is our usual arrival time in Farmington Hills. The city is large, but it is ground we cover constantly. Soot is acidic, and what it does to a surface gets harder to undo the longer it sits. Call the moment you are allowed back on the property.

Can you clean belongings damaged by a fire in Farmington Hills?

No, and we prefer to be clear about it from the start. We restore the structure of the building. Cleaning, packing and storing furniture, clothing and personal items is contents work, handled by a contents company. After a fire this is usually the first thing people ask, so we answer it before anyone assumes we are taking it on.

Do you board up fire damaged homes in Farmington Hills?

Yes. Securing the building is one of the first things on our list. We board openings and close the structure so rain, wind and anything else stay out. A property left open after a fire keeps deteriorating, and there is no reason to let that happen. Mention it when you call so the crew comes prepared.

Who handles our insurance company after a Farmington Hills fire?

We do, once a claim exists. Your adjuster gets the documentation the claim needs, and you get the same paperwork so nothing is out of sight. We deal with the adjuster and with any other trade on the property. The claim itself has to come from you, because the policy is yours, and after that we work alongside you.

What does the free inspection at a Farmington Hills property include?

There is no charge and nothing to sign. We follow the smoke through the house rather than stopping at the burn, and in an open plan ranch or a condominium it usually carries a long way. The firefighting water gets traced as well. We describe what we find while we are standing in front of it.
