Why Us

Why Clinton Township homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup

A crew at your address in about an hour

Our phone is picked up by a person twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year, holidays included. Nothing waits until the office opens. Clinton Township is regular ground for our trucks, so an hour is the usual gap between your call and a crew on site. When a storm has hit the whole county at once, calling early is what keeps you near the front of the line.

The inspection is free and you sign nothing

We come out, walk it with you and charge nothing for the visit. Moisture meters do the work, because water runs under flooring and up inside walls where you cannot see it. We will not put a final figure on the job while standing in your driveway. Nobody knows what is behind a wall until that wall is opened, and pretending otherwise helps no one.

We deal with your carrier directly

Where there is a claim we document the loss for your insurance company, with photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you get the same paperwork so nothing is hidden from you. We speak with your adjuster, your plumber and any other trade on the job. If a carrier says you have to use one of their preferred vendors, you do not. When you hire us, we are contracted by you.

Local, and long at it

We are based in Rochester Hills, so a run into Macomb County is ordinary work for us rather than a special trip. The founders came out of construction, contracting and cleaning before restoration. That is why we look at framing, subfloor and insulation instead of stopping at the carpet, and why we tell you straight what has to be removed.

We know the ground and the houses here

Clinton Township sits on flat, heavy clay that does not take water away quickly, so when rain keeps falling the ground stays saturated and pressure builds against basement walls. The housing runs from fifties and sixties brick ranches with older perimeter drain tile, through seventies and eighties splits, to newer colonials with finished walkout basements, plus a large amount of condominium and townhouse stock. In a condo, one failed line upstairs becomes a problem for several units at once.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

The water line to our ice maker burst and caused a huge mess. Once the plumber discovered where the leak was, he recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Our Process

Our water damage repair process in Clinton Township, MI

Step 1. You call and someone answers

Ring at any hour and a person answers. We ask what failed, where the water is showing and whether it is still running, and we tell you what to do until we get there. Then a crew is dispatched. An hour is the normal drive time across the township.

Step 2. We walk it with you at no charge

Before anything starts, we go through the property with you. The walkthrough is free and there is nothing to sign for it. Moisture meters show where water has traveled beyond what you can see. You know the scope before the work begins.

Step 3. Water out, then the equipment goes in

Extraction comes first. We build containment where the job calls for it. Every air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it comes through the door. Material that will not dry where it sits is removed, and we tell you why before it goes.

Step 4. We read the moisture daily

Drying is measured, not assumed. Someone returns each day and takes readings at the same points, and those numbers show whether the structure is giving up water the way it should. Two to four days is normal for most buildings. The equipment stays until the readings release it, and a crew is usually on site four to eight hours on a work day.

Step 5. The paperwork and your claim

The paperwork follows the drying. We charge Time and Materials against the IICRC S500 professional standards manual and price from a current Xactimate list, so every line has a source. Invoices are sent three to five business days after completion and are due in thirty days. With a claim open we give your adjuster the documentation the claim needs and keep talking until it is settled. GreenSky financing is available.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Clinton Township water damage, common questions

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How fast can you get to a Clinton Township address?

A person answers our phone at every hour of the day and night, and our usual arrival time in Clinton Township is about an hour. When a big storm has moved through Macomb County and phones are ringing everywhere, calling early is what keeps your job moving. Water does its worst work in the first several hours, so do not wait to see whether it gets worse.

Why do so many Clinton Township basements flood?

The ground here is flat and the soil is heavy clay, which does not drain quickly. During a long rain the soil stays saturated and holds water against basement walls. A lot of the older houses in the township also have perimeter drain tile that has been in the ground for sixty years or more. Combine that with the number of finished basements and a wet season turns into a lot of large losses at once.

Sewage backed up into my Clinton Township basement. Is that different work?

Yes, it is handled differently from clean water. Contaminated water means porous materials that absorbed it usually have to be removed rather than dried, and the area is contained and treated before drying begins. All of our equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it goes into a home, which matters most on a job like this. We will explain what is coming out and why before we start.

Do you work with my insurance company on a Clinton Township loss?

We do. Where a claim is open we document the loss for the carrier, with photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you receive the same paperwork for your own records. We also speak with your adjuster, your plumber and any other trade working on the property. Filing the claim is your part, because the policy is in your name, but we carry the rest of the conversation.

Should I wait for the adjuster before starting work in Clinton Township?

No. Starting mitigation promptly is the property owner's responsibility, and waiting several days for an appointment usually makes the damage worse and the job more expensive. Photograph what you can before we touch anything, then let us begin drying. We document as we work, so your adjuster still receives a full record of how the property looked when we arrived.
