Why Rochester Hills homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup
Our office is here, so we arrive fast
Our phone is answered by a person at any hour of any day, all year. Rochester Hills is where our office is, so a call from a local address is about as short a run as we get. Reckon on about an hour, and often it is less. That speed is not for show. After a fire the soot is still moving, and every hour the house sits closed up is an hour it keeps spreading.
We look at no charge and ask for no commitment
We come out and look for free, and you owe us nothing for it. We also will not put a final price on the job standing in your entryway. With fire damage, the true extent does not show until the surfaces are stripped back and cleaned. Soot works its way into cavities, ducts and the backs of finishes. Anyone giving you an exact total before that has made it up.
We talk to your carrier and your adjuster
We submit our documentation and our pricing to your carrier and answer the questions that come back. You get the same paperwork, so the numbers are in your hands too. Filing the claim is yours to do, because the policy is yours. We talk to your adjuster and to the electricians, plumbers and other trades on the job, which keeps you out of the middle of it. If you are told a preferred vendor is required for the claim, that is not right. The choice is yours to make.
This is our home town
We work out of Rochester Hills, so this is not a market we visit. It is where we are. Our founders came out of construction, contracting and cleaning before starting the company, and that shapes how a fire job gets read. We look past the blackened surfaces at what the heat did to framing and subfloor. Then we say plainly what stays and what goes.
We know these subdivisions
Rochester Hills is mostly subdivision housing. This was Avon Township until 1984, and the farmland went over to colonials, ranches and split levels through the postwar decades and the eighties, with newer subdivisions added from the nineties on. A two story colonial has a stairwell running straight up the middle of the house, and smoke uses it like a chimney. Add finished basements, bonus rooms over the garage and forced air ductwork running through all of it. A fire in one room becomes a whole house problem quickly.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our fire damage repair process in Rochester Hills, MI
Step 1. You call and someone answers
You call and a person picks up, at any hour. We ask where the fire started, whether it is out and whether the fire service has cleared the building. We tell you what to leave be until we get there, and then we dispatch. You do not need your insurance company's permission to make that call, and waiting for it only costs time.
Step 2. We walk the house with you, no charge
The first thing at the property is a walkthrough with you. It is free and nothing is signed to get it. We show you where the smoke went, which materials took heat and what we expect to find once things come open. You will know the scope before the crew starts. A work authorization is signed after that.
Step 3. We make the property safe and secure
Then we shut the building up. Broken windows and doors get boarded, roof openings get covered, and services are switched off where they need to be. We identify anywhere unsafe to enter and keep everyone out of it. A fire damaged house standing open collects weather and worse, which is why we do not leave this until later in the week.
Step 4. We clean the structure and address the water
Next comes the building itself. We clean the structure and pull out the materials the heat has ruined. The water the fire service left behind when they knocked the fire down is handled here as well. That water soaks into framing, insulation and subfloor, and it becomes a mold problem within days if nobody deals with it. All our equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it enters your home. A crew usually runs four to eight hours on the days it is scheduled. We restore the structure. Contents are a separate trade, so anything belonging to you that needs cleaning is referred out.
Step 5. Records, invoices and your carrier
We photograph and note the job from the first walkthrough through to the last day on site. The numbers come from a current Xactimate list, which is what most carriers price against, so the invoice holds up to line by line review. Invoices are issued three to five business days after completion and are due within thirty days. On an open claim we submit our documentation to the carrier, and we keep talking with your adjuster. GreenSky financing is available.

“Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!”

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Rochester Hills, MI
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
How fast can you get to a Rochester Hills home?
Fast, because our office is in Rochester Hills. Our phone is answered by a person every hour of every day, and about an hour is what to expect. On a local address it is often less. Speed changes outcomes after a fire, since soot keeps circulating and settling and starts staining porous materials as it sits. Call as soon as the fire service releases the building to you.
Why did smoke get upstairs when the fire stayed on the first floor of my Rochester Hills house?
Because smoke rises and follows air, and the layout of a typical colonial here helps it along. The open stairwell in the middle of the house works like a flue, and the forced air system carries the rest into bedrooms and closets. Heat then drives the odor into drywall, trim and anything soft it reaches. That is why upstairs rooms with no visible soot can still smell strongly for weeks.
Do you clean the furniture and clothing in my Rochester Hills home?
No, and we say so early so nobody is surprised. We are a structural restoration company, so our work is the building itself, its surfaces, framing and finishes. Cleaning and restoring belongings is a different trade with different handling, and it is not one we are in. We refer that work to a company that specializes in it, and we will raise it during the walkthrough.
How do you work with my insurance company on a Rochester Hills fire loss?
We submit our documentation and our pricing to your carrier, and you get the same paperwork so you can see every charge. We talk to your adjuster throughout, and to any other trade working on the property, so you are not passing messages back and forth. Filing the claim is yours to do, because it is your policy. Everything after that we handle alongside you, including the times a carrier disputes part of the scope.
What happens to the water the fire department used in my Rochester Hills home?
We deal with it as part of the same job. Fighting a fire puts a large amount of water into a building. It ends up in wall cavities, insulation and under the flooring rather than running back out. Sitting there, it can become a mold problem within a few days. We look for it during the walkthrough and handle it alongside the smoke and soot work, so it does not turn into a second call weeks later.
