Why Us

Why Fraser homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup

We are on site in about an hour

Our phone is answered by a person at any hour, on any day of the year. No recording, no callback in the morning. From a Fraser address, an hour is the normal time between your call and our truck arriving. After a fire that gap matters, because smoke keeps moving through the house long after the flames are out.

The inspection is free and there is nothing to sign

We walk the house with you at no cost. You are not signing anything to have us look. What we will not do is call out a final price while we stand in your driveway. On a fire loss you cannot see the full extent until surfaces are opened and cleaned, so an exact figure that early is a guess dressed up as a number.

We deal with your insurance company directly

The documentation your claim needs goes to your carrier, photos, moisture readings and scope notes. You get the same paperwork too, so nothing is hidden from you. We speak to your adjuster and to any plumber, electrician or other trade on the job. If someone at the claims office tells you that you have to use one of their preferred vendors, that is not true. You pick who works on your house.

Local, and at this a long time

We are based in Rochester Hills, and Fraser is a short run for us. Our founders spent their careers in construction, contracting and cleaning before they started this business, and that shows up in how we read a fire loss. We look at what the heat and the smoke did to framing, subfloor and insulation, not only at what is visible in the room.

We know the houses in Fraser

Fraser filled in with brick ranches and Cape Cods after the city incorporated in the 1950s. Most are a single story or a story and a half, with the furnace and the ductwork downstairs. That layout matters after a fire. Smoke pulled into a return in one room can be pushed back out through registers in rooms that never saw flame, which is why the far end of the house can smell of smoke.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our fire damage repair process in Fraser, MI

Step 1. You call and a person answers

Ring us at any hour and someone picks up. We ask what burned, whether the fire service has released the property back to you and whether anyone is still in the house. We tell you what to do until we get there. Then we send a crew. An hour is the usual arrival time in Fraser.

Step 2. We walk it with you, free

We go through the property with you before anyone touches anything. The walkthrough costs nothing and you sign nothing for it. We point out where the smoke traveled and what we think is behind the surfaces we cannot see into yet. You will know what we plan to do before we start doing it.

Step 3. We secure the building

If the fire left an opening, we close it. Board-up on windows and doors, cover on a damaged roof, and the building made safe to work in. That keeps the weather and anyone who should not be there out of the house while the rest of the job is planned.

Step 4. We clean the structure and deal with the water

Then we work on the building itself. Soot and smoke residue come off the surfaces that can be saved, and material that cannot be saved comes out. We restore the structure. We are not a contents company, so cleaning or storing your belongings is not our work, and we can refer you to a firm that does it. The fire service almost certainly put water into the house as well, so we look for where it went and dry it out before it becomes a second problem. Every piece of equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it is set down in your house, and a crew is normally on site four to eight hours on a working day.

Step 5. Paperwork and your carrier

We price from a current Xactimate list, which is the same list most insurers work from, so the lines on our invoice are ones your adjuster recognizes. Invoices go out three to five business days after the work is finished, and payment is due within thirty days. Where a claim is open we give your adjuster the documentation they need and stay in that conversation until it settles. Financing through GreenSky is there if the timing is hard.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Fraser, MI

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How fast can you get to a fire in Fraser?

Our phone is answered by a person at any hour of the day or night, every day of the year, and the usual arrival time in Fraser is about an hour. Smoke does not stop working once the fire is out. It keeps moving through the house and settling on surfaces, and soot marks porous material more the longer it stays there. Call as soon as the fire service has cleared you to, even if the damage looks contained to one room.

What happens to our belongings after a fire in Fraser?

We restore the structure. We are not a contents company, so we do not pack out, clean or store your belongings. That is a separate trade with different equipment, and we would rather hand it to people who do it every day than do it badly ourselves. Tell us what you are worried about and we can point you toward a contents company. Photograph everything before anything is moved.

Can you board up a Fraser house that is open to the weather?

Yes, and it is usually one of the first things we do. A fire and the work of putting it out leave broken windows, forced doors and sometimes a hole cut in the roof. We close those openings so rain, snow and anyone with an interest in an empty house stay outside. Board-up happens before the cleaning work is planned, because there is little sense cleaning a building that is still standing open.

Who deals with our insurance company on a Fraser fire claim?

We work the insurance side with you from the point the claim opens. We document the loss for your carrier with photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and the same paperwork comes to you so you can see the same detail. We talk to your adjuster and to any trades on the property, so you are not relaying messages between people. Filing the claim is yours to do, since it is your policy.

What does the free inspection in Fraser actually cover?

We walk the property with you, look at what the fire and the smoke reached, and explain what we are seeing. It costs nothing and you sign nothing to get it. What it will not include is a final price. On a fire loss the true extent only appears once surfaces are opened and cleaned, so we tell you what we know and we tell you what we do not.
