Same-Day Water Extraction in Southeast Michigan
IICRC Certified Firm • Free inspection • All Insurance Accepted
Standing water on the floor, and you need water extraction in Southeast Michigan fast? Maybe the sump pump quit, a pipe burst overnight, or the carpet squishes underfoot. Call at any hour for a free inspection, and our truck pulls up in about an hour.
How our water extraction works
Start by stopping the water. Close the main valve, switch off the breaker for the wet area if you can reach the panel without stepping in water, and lift rugs, boxes and furniture legs off the floor if it's safe to step in. Then call, and we'll send the truck.
When we arrive, we check how deep the water is and where it's coming from. If it is still rising from a failed sump pump or a broken line, that gets stopped first, because pumping out water that keeps coming back only buys time.
Then the extraction itself. Our extraction equipment pulls water out of carpet, pad and hard floors, and pumps handle deeper water in a basement. The more water we remove now, the shorter the drying that follows.
We lift a corner of the carpet and check the pad and subfloor underneath. Pad usually holds water a wand can't reach, so it often comes out, while the carpet itself can sometimes be dried in place when the water was clean.
Finally, air movers and dehumidifiers dry what's left, and we come back daily to measure it. When the readings say it's dry, our crew can rebuild anything that came out, and the invoice goes to you and your insurer.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager during this.

Response came out to our house when we had water issues with our attic and potential mold growth. They dispatched a project manager to came out same day and provided advice regarding insurance, let us know what to expect for the work, and sent a crew out the next day. Everything moved quickly and smoothly...

Why homeowners call us for water extraction
Standing water has to come out first
Drying starts only once the standing water is out. Every hour it sits, more of it soaks into the carpet pad, the subfloor and the bottom of the drywall. That is why we take calls at any hour.
We find where the water went
Water spreads farther than it looks. It runs under carpet, beneath floating floors and into the bottom of wall cavities. Moisture meters show us how far it traveled, so the plan covers the hidden areas as well as the wet floor in front of you.
We tell you what can be saved
Whether carpet and pad can be dried in place depends on where the water came from and how long it sat. Clean water from a supply line, caught early, leaves more to save than water that sat for days or came up from a drain. We tell you plainly what can stay and what has to go before anything is pulled up.
One company from extraction to rebuild
Extraction is the first step, and the same company can take the job all the way through. We dry the structure, keep the records your insurance company will ask for, and rebuild once the readings show everything is dry.

Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling.
The crew that pulls the water out

Water extraction questions
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
Can I use a shop vac instead?
For a small puddle of clean water on a hard floor, a shop vac and towels may be enough. Once water has soaked into carpet, run under baseboards or sat for hours, a shop vac leaves most of it behind in the pad and subfloor. Never use an electric vacuum where water touches outlets.
How fast does the water need to come out?
As soon as you can manage it. In the first hours, water wicks up drywall, swells baseboards and spreads under flooring, and mold can start on damp materials within a day or two. Extraction is the one step not to put off until morning.
What should I move before you arrive?
If you can do it safely, set furniture legs on foil or wood blocks so stains don't bleed into the carpet, and carry rugs, papers and electronics to a dry room. Leave anything heavy for us. Skip it entirely if water is near outlets or the electrical panel.
What happens if the water keeps coming back?
Then the source needs fixing first. A sump pump that can't keep up, a broken line or water seeping through the foundation will refill the floor after we extract it. We'll tell you whether a plumber or another trade is needed and coordinate with them.
Is water extraction covered by insurance?
When the water comes from a covered loss, such as a burst pipe, extraction is usually part of the claim, because it limits further damage. Groundwater and surface flooding are often handled differently. Your adjuster makes the call, and we send them photos and readings to support it.
