Why Birmingham homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup
An hour, most of the time, from call to crew
Our phone is answered by a person around the clock, every day of the year. There is no service taking messages on our behalf. Birmingham sits close to us, and about an hour is what it normally takes for a crew to reach an address here. Smoke is still spreading through the house during that hour, which is the whole reason we run it that way.
Nothing to sign for the inspection, and nothing to pay
We come out, look at the property with you and charge nothing for it. You are not asked to sign anything to get that visit. We also will not put a final price on the job while standing at your front door. On a fire loss you cannot see the full extent until surfaces are opened up and cleaned, and any exact number offered before that is a guess.
We deal with your adjuster, not just the cleanup
Your insurance company gets the documentation the claim needs, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you are sent the same paperwork so you can read every line. Your adjuster hears from us, and so does every other trade on the property. Carriers sometimes push their own preferred vendors, and it is worth knowing they cannot require it. When you hire us, our contract is with you.
Local and long established
We are based in Rochester Hills. Birmingham is close by, not a job we drive across the state for. The founders came up through construction, contracting and cleaning before starting the company, and it shows in how we read a fire loss. We look at framing, subfloor and insulation, not just the surfaces you can already see are ruined.
We know what Birmingham houses are made of
West of Woodward, around Quarton Lake, a lot of the housing is Tudor, Colonial Revival and Cape Cod work from the 1920s and 1930s, with plaster and lath walls and oak floors. Those materials behave differently under heat and smoke than modern drywall does. Elsewhere in the city, teardown and rebuild has put much newer construction on old streets, and mid-century homes sit in between. Knowing which one you have changes what we do first.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...
Our fire damage repair process in Birmingham, MI
Step 1. You call and reach a person
Call at any hour, day or night, and a person answers. We want to know what burned, whether everyone is accounted for and whether the building has been released to you. We give you something to do in the meantime. Then a crew is on the way, usually reaching Birmingham in about an hour.
Step 2. The free walkthrough
We go through the property with you before anything is touched. There is no charge for it and no form to sign. We point out where the smoke has settled, including rooms nowhere near the fire. By the end of it you know what we think the job is.
Step 3. We make the building secure
A fire damaged house that is standing open is still getting worse. We board openings, cover what has to be covered and shut the property against weather and entry. We check the areas we plan to work in are safe. Every piece of equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it goes inside.
Step 4. Cleaning the structure, and the water that is left
What we restore is the building. We clean the structural surfaces smoke has reached and take out what cannot be saved, and we explain why before it goes. The fire service also put water through the property, and that water is now sitting where you cannot see it, so it is part of the same job. We are not a contents company, so furniture, clothing and personal items go elsewhere. Expect a crew on site four to eight hours or more on a working day.
Step 5. Paperwork and your adjuster
Your adjuster sees lines they recognize, because the pricing comes off a current Xactimate list rather than out of our heads. On an open claim we give your adjuster the documentation they need and stay in that conversation. The invoice arrives three to five business days after the work finishes and is payable in thirty days. Financing through GreenSky is available if you need it.

“Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!”

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Birmingham, MI
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
How soon can you be at a Birmingham address after a fire?
About an hour is normal, and our line is answered by a person at any time of the day or night, every day of the year. Soot is acidic and it starts working on surfaces immediately. In an older Birmingham house with plaster walls and oak floors, that early damage is worth getting ahead of. Call as soon as the property is released to you.
Can you clean smoke damaged belongings in a Birmingham home?
No, and we would rather say so up front. We restore the structure of the building. Contents work, meaning the cleaning, packing and storage of furniture, clothing and personal items, is a different trade and goes to a contents company. On a fire loss this is the question we get most, so we answer it before anyone assumes otherwise.
Do you board up fire damaged property in Birmingham?
Yes, and it is usually one of the first things we do. Boarding openings and securing the structure stops the weather from adding to what the fire already did. It also keeps the property closed while nobody is living in it. Let us know when you call and the crew will come prepared for it.
Who deals with our insurer after a Birmingham fire?
We handle the documentation side once a claim exists. The photos, moisture readings and scope notes go to your insurance company, and you receive the same paperwork so nothing is hidden. We also speak with your adjuster and with any other trade on site. The claim itself must be filed by you, because it is your policy, and from there we work alongside you.
What is included in the free inspection of a Birmingham property?
A full look at the house, at no cost, with no signature involved. We follow the smoke as much as the fire, because it moves well past the room that burned, and the firefighting water needs tracing too. We tell you what we are seeing while we are seeing it rather than writing it up afterwards.
