Why Wayne County homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup
We are on site in about an hour
Someone is on our phone at any hour of any day, every day of the year. There is no answering service taking a message for the morning. When you call, a crew is dispatched, and about an hour is our normal arrival. After a fire that time is worth having, because soot carries on damaging surfaces from the moment the flames go out.
The inspection is free and there is nothing to sign
We travel out, go through the property with you and charge nothing for doing it. No agreement is presented before you have made any decision. What we will not do is give you a final price at the door. A fire keeps its own extent hidden until surfaces are opened and cleaned, and anyone handing you an exact total before that has guessed at it.
We deal with your adjuster directly
We put together the documentation your carrier needs rather than leaving that to you, and the same file comes to you so every line is visible. We deal with your adjuster and with any plumbers or trades on the job, which keeps you out of the middle of it. If your carrier tells you that a preferred vendor is your only option, that is not the case. The company you hire answers to you.
Local, and this work is not new to us
We are based in Rochester Hills, and Wayne County is part of the area we cover. The founders of the business came up in construction, in contracting and in cleaning. On a fire that background counts, because what matters is usually behind the finish rather than on it. We tell you plainly what has to come out and why.
We know the housing stock here
Wayne County holds some of the oldest housing in the region alongside some of the newest. Pre-war frame houses and brick bungalows sit in one community while subdivisions from the last thirty years sit in the next, and the buildings behave differently in a fire. Older homes tend toward plaster, solid trim and small closed rooms that hold smoke and hold the smell. Newer ones have open plans and long duct runs that let it move. We work out what a building is made of before we decide how to clean it.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Our fire damage repair process in Wayne County, MI
Step 1. You call and a person answers
Any hour of the night, someone will answer. We need to know what caught, whether the fire service has finished with the property and whether everybody is safely out, and we will tell you what to do in the meantime. Then we dispatch. About an hour is the usual gap between the call and our arrival.
Step 2. We walk it with you, free
There is no charge for the walkthrough and no paperwork attached to it. We go through the property with you, including the parts the fire never reached, because that is where smoke usually finishes up. By the end you will know what we found and what the job actually involves.
Step 3. We secure the property
After a fire the building is open to the weather and to the street. Boarding goes over the openings, covers go over whatever is exposed, and the working areas are made safe before we enter them. Where the job calls for it we build containment, so soot and dust stay inside the affected area rather than moving into the rest of the property.
Step 4. We clean the structure and deal with the water
The water used to put the fire out is now sitting in the building. It soaks into subfloor, drywall and insulation, keeps damaging the structure and can lead to mold if it is left. We get it out and dry the fabric of the building as the cleaning goes on. Soot is acidic. Anything porous underneath it takes a deeper stain the longer the wait. Every air mover, dehumidifier and scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it enters the property. Material that cannot be brought back is removed and we explain the reasoning first. The structure is our scope. Contents work is not ours. Personal property that needs cleaning is handled by a business equipped for it, and we can tell you where to look.
Step 5. Paperwork, and your claim
We photograph and document the job from the first visit through to the last. A current Xactimate list sets the pricing, the same reference most carriers use, and a crew is on site four to eight hours on a working day. Three to five business days after completion the invoice goes out, and thirty days after that it is due. With a claim open we document what the carrier needs and remain in contact with your adjuster. GreenSky financing is available if you need it.

“Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!”

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Wayne County, MI
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
Do you cover Wayne County, and how soon can you get here?
Wayne County is part of the area we serve. There is a person on our line at every hour of the year, and about an hour is our normal arrival time. There is no need to hear from your adjuster first. Once the fire is out the soot goes to work on porous surfaces, and it does not clock off at night.
Wayne County has a lot of older houses. Does the age of a building change a fire job?
It changes how the smoke behaves. Older homes here often have plaster, solid trim and small closed rooms, and those porous materials take smoke up readily and keep the smell. Newer construction with open plans and long duct runs lets smoke travel further but gives it less to soak into. Before we decide how to clean, we work out what the building is actually made of.
The fire department left our Wayne County home full of water. Is that part of the job?
Yes, and it is one reason a fire loss takes longer than people expect. Putting a fire out uses a large volume of water and most of it stays in the building, in the subfloor, the drywall and the insulation. Ignored, it works on the structure and gives mold everything it needs to start. Removal and drying are folded into the same job.
Can you clean the contents of our Wayne County property?
We cannot, and we would rather be clear about that from the start. Our scope is the shell and everything built into it, so framing, floors, walls and fixed finishes. Cleaning, packing and storing personal property is a separate trade with separate premises and equipment. We can send you toward a contents company and work beside them on the property.
Do you work with our insurance company on a Wayne County fire loss?
We do. Your adjuster gets our documentation of the loss, the photos, the moisture readings and the scope notes, and you receive the same file so you can read every line. We handle the conversations with your adjuster and with any trades on the job. Only you can open the claim, since it is your policy. Where a carrier pays under the scope, we will point to the gap and keep after it.
