Same-Day Fire Damage Restoration in Southeast Michigan
IICRC Certified Firm • Free inspection • All Insurance Accepted
Had a fire and need fire damage restoration in Southeast Michigan? Firefighters broke windows to get in, hose water soaked the floors, and every room smells of smoke. Reach us at any hour to set up a free inspection, and our crew can be on site in about an hour.
Our fire damage restoration process
As soon as firefighters hand the house back to you, call us at any hour. Broken windows and forced doors get temporary board-ups so weather and trespassers stay out. Don't switch the power or gas back on yourself.
Next comes a free inspection of the fire and smoke damage. We go room by room, including rooms the flames never reached, and check whether heat weakened framing, joists or drywall. Every room is photographed for your claim.
Then the water, soot and debris come out. Water from the fire hoses is extracted and the structure dried. Burned drywall, insulation and floor coverings are hauled out. In an older house, a few materials, such as old floor tile or pipe wrap, might need an asbestos test first.
Cleaning and deodorizing follow. Soot is removed from walls, ceilings, cabinets and trim with methods suited to each surface, odor is treated where it starts, and charred or smoky framing may get a coat of sealer before new drywall goes up.
Finally, our own crew rebuilds what came out, so you deal with a single company from the boarded windows to the fresh paint. Our invoice and records are sent to both you and your insurer, along with a request for direct payment to us. Financing is available for gaps in coverage.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager during this.

Response came out to our house when we had water issues with our attic and potential mold growth. They dispatched a project manager to came out same day and provided advice regarding insurance, let us know what to expect for the work, and sent a crew out the next day. Everything moved quickly and smoothly...

Why homeowners call us for fire damage restoration
A fire loss is often a water loss too
The water used to put out a fire soaks into floors, walls and insulation. Drying is everyday work for us, so we start on that water while the smoke and soot cleanup gets moving. You have one company handling both, and nothing waits on a second contractor.
We close the building back up
After a fire, windows are often broken and doors forced, sometimes by the firefighters getting in. We handle emergency board-ups, so the building is closed up again before the cleanup starts. That also keeps weather out of rooms that are already damaged.
We check what the heat did inside the walls
Heat can char the framing inside a wall or weaken a floor while the surface still looks sound. As an IICRC Certified Firm, our certification covers fire and smoke restoration as well as odor control. We check beneath the surface before we tell you what can be cleaned and what has to be rebuilt.
The same company rebuilds
Reconstruction is half of what we do. Once the cleanup is finished, our team can rebuild what the fire took out, from the drywall to the cabinets and paint. The rebuild starts from what we already know about the damage, because we assessed it ourselves.

Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling.

Fire damage restoration questions
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
When can I go back into my house after a fire?
Only when firefighters or a building inspector say it is safe, which may not be the same day. If you're allowed a short trip inside, collect prescriptions, eyeglasses, phone chargers, ID and key documents, put on closed-toe shoes, and leave the power and gas off. Throw away food that heat or smoke reached.
Who removes the water the firefighters used?
We do, as part of the fire job. Hose water runs into walls, insulation and the basement, and left wet it can lead to mold within days. Your adjuster has the final word, but the drying is normally billed as part of the fire claim.
Do you clean furniture and clothing after a fire?
No. We restore the house itself, from the framing out to the paint. Clothes, furniture and electronics need a company that specializes in belongings, and most policies cover them under a separate section. Make a list with photos before you discard anything.
How do I keep the house secure after a fire?
Broken windows and forced doors leave the house open to rain, animals and trespassers, and most policies require you to limit further damage. We put up temporary board-ups, usually on the first visit. Keep valuables out of the house and let your neighbors know it's empty.
Does your inspection start an insurance claim?
No. The inspection is free and doesn't report anything to your insurer or commit you to hiring us. You file the claim as the policyholder, and you choose who restores your home. Don't wait for an adjuster to visit before protecting the house, because mitigation is expected right away.
