How we restore a Grosse Pointe home after a fire
Step 1. You call and we secure the house
Once the family is safely outside, phone us any hour, and a board-up goes over each broken window and forced door when firefighters release the house. If a leaded or stained-glass window cracked, tell us, so the crew can plan how to protect it without harming the old frame.
Step 2. We inspect the fire and smoke damage
Heat can cloud, bubble or crack the finish on old oak floors near the fire, even where the wood itself looks sound. Our technician looks at every floor near the burn as well as the walls and ceilings, then photographs what turns up for the assessment.
Step 3. We remove water, soot and debris

Step 4. We clean and deodorize
Some older ceilings carry calcimine, a chalky paint that washes away with water, so soot cleaning there may remove the paint itself, and the ceiling then needs sealing before new paint. Other walls and trim get standard soot removal, and odor treatment follows.
Step 5. We rebuild and handle the paperwork
Our own crew carries out the reconstruction, and copies of our invoice and documentation go to you and the insurer, which we ask to send payment to us. When the rebuild is done, tell your insurance agent about anything new or upgraded, so your policy keeps up with the house.
