Why Grosse Pointe homeowners call us first for fire damage cleanup
About an hour from your call to our arrival
Call us at two in the afternoon or two in the morning and a person answers. That holds every day of the year, holidays included. For Grosse Pointe we are usually pulling in within the hour. Speed counts on a fire loss because smoke pushes into plaster, wood and fabric while it sits, and the longer it stays the harder it is to get back out.
A free look at the damage, with nothing to sign
The first visit costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We go through the house with you and tell you what we are seeing in plain terms. We will not hand you a final price at the front door. Until surfaces are opened up and cleaned, no one can see how far the smoke and the heat actually reached, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
We talk to your adjuster, so you do not have to
Your adjuster gets the documentation the claim needs, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, rather than you having to relay it. A copy of the same file is sent to you. We keep the adjuster in the loop and coordinate with the trades working alongside us. Some carriers push you toward a vendor on their own list. You are not obliged to take it. The company you hire answers to you.
A company that has been doing this a long time
This is a business run out of Rochester Hills, and we have been at restoration work for a long time. The people who started it came from construction, contracting and cleaning backgrounds. That history is useful on a fire job, where the important damage is often behind a surface rather than on it. We tell you plainly what has to come out and what can stay.
We know what the older Grosse Pointe homes are made of
A lot of Grosse Pointe went up in the 1910s and 1920s, in Colonial, Tudor and English styles, with plaster over lath behind the wall surface. Houses of that age can hold voids and cavities that a later remodel closed over, and every one of them is a route for smoke. That is why a fire in one room can leave odor on a floor the flames never touched, and why we look for those paths instead of assuming there are none.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Our fire damage repair process in Grosse Pointe, MI
Step 1. Your call reaches a person
Whatever the hour, a person answers. We ask what happened, whether the fire service has released the house and whether anyone is still inside. You get something practical to do before we hang up, and then we send a crew. Grosse Pointe is normally about an hour away from us.
Step 2. A free walkthrough, together
We go through the property with you before any work begins. There is no charge and nothing to put your name to. We show you where the smoke traveled and tell you what we think sits behind the plaster and the ceilings. You will know the plan before the plan starts.
Step 3. We make the property safe
Openings get closed. Board-up over broken windows and forced doors, cover over anything the fire service opened in the roof, and the building checked so it is safe to work in. That keeps the weather and unwanted visitors out while the rest of the job is scoped.
Step 4. Cleaning the structure, and the water underneath it
Now the building itself. Soot and smoke residue come off the surfaces that can be saved, and material too far gone is taken out. We are not a contents company, so your belongings are referred to a firm that handles contents. The fire service will also have put water into the house, and we find where it went and dry it before mold gets a start. Equipment is cleaned and decontaminated before it goes into your home, and a crew is on site four to eight hours on a working day.
Step 5. The invoice and the claim
We price from a current Xactimate list, the same one most carriers use, so your adjuster sees lines they know. Invoices go out three to five business days after completion and payment is due in thirty days. On an open claim we document everything your adjuster needs and they hear from us until the file is settled. Carriers occasionally short pay, and that is usually fixable. Financing through GreenSky is there if you need it.

“Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!”

Common questions about fire damage restoration in Grosse Pointe, MI
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
How quickly can you reach a Grosse Pointe address after a fire?
Someone answers our line at any hour, on any day of the year, and Grosse Pointe is usually about an hour from us. That matters because the damage keeps developing after the fire is out. Smoke settles into plaster, wood and fabric, and the longer it sits the further into the material it goes. Call as soon as the fire service releases the property back to you.
Do you clean furniture and personal items from a Grosse Pointe home?
No. We restore the structure, and contents work goes to a contents company. It takes different facilities and a different process, and passing it to a specialist gives your things a better chance than we could. We are happy to refer you to one. Take photographs of everything before anyone moves it out of position.
Will you secure a Grosse Pointe property that the fire left open?
Yes. Emergency board-up is part of what we do and it usually happens on the first visit. Firefighting leaves broken glass, forced entries and sometimes an opening cut in the roof. We cover those so the house is closed against weather and against anyone who might wander in. A secured building also makes the rest of the work easier to plan.
Our carrier wants us to use their own vendor for our Grosse Pointe home. Do we have to?
No. You choose who works on your house. A company sent by the carrier is under contract to the carrier, not to you, and the two do not always want the same thing. When you hire us we document the loss and hand your adjuster the paperwork the claim needs, and you get the same file. We stay in contact with your adjuster the whole way through.
What do we get from the free inspection in Grosse Pointe?
You get an honest walkthrough. We go room to room with you, describe what the fire and the smoke have done, and flag what we think is hidden behind surfaces. There is no cost and nothing to sign. We will not give you a final figure at that visit, because the real scope of a fire only shows itself once surfaces are opened and cleaned.
