Why Us

Why Clawson homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup

We are on site in about an hour

A person answers our phone at any hour of any day, all 365 of them, and nothing waits for the morning. Of every community we cover, Clawson is the one closest to our door. Rochester Road runs almost straight from our end of Oakland County down into the city, where it turns into Main Street. That is a single road between our trucks and your street, so an hour is a comfortable estimate rather than a stretch. Water does not pause while you wait, which is the whole reason the number matters.

The inspection is free and there is nothing to sign

We look at the house with you for nothing, and no form goes with it. Moisture meters come out first, because water travels much further than the part you can see. Clawson is only 2.2 square miles and the lots inside it are shallow, so these houses were built compact, with the rooms sitting close and the floor framing carrying water from one to the next. We show you what the meters say. We will not put a final number on the job while standing on your porch, because until a wall is opened that number is invented.

We are local, and thirty years into this work

We are based in Rochester Hills, and Clawson is close enough that it feels like the same neighborhood. The city came together fast after the war, with hundreds of houses going up by 1949 and the ranches, bungalows and colonials filling in through the 1950s and early 1960s. Plenty of them have been added to since. A second story goes on, a kitchen moves, a bathroom gets rebuilt, and new copper ends up tied into galvanized pipe that has been in the wall since the house was new. Thirty years of this work is what tells us where the weak joint usually sits.

We work with your insurance company and your adjuster

Your carrier receives our documentation and our pricing, and the identical paperwork comes to you with every line visible. We speak to your adjuster, to your plumber and to whoever else is on the job, so information moves without you sitting in the middle of it. If a claims desk tells you the work has to go to one of their preferred vendors, that is not true. You choose, and once you choose us we answer to you and to nobody at the carrier.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

The water line to our ice maker burst and caused a huge mess. Once the plumber discovered where the leak was, he recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation. They responded FAST and had dryers going for the floor in our kitchen and basement. Austin was our Mitigation Project Manager, he and everyone on his...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our water damage repair process in Clawson, MI

Step 1. You call and a person answers

Ring at any hour and a person picks up, not a machine. We ask what failed, where the water is coming from and whether it is still running, and we talk you through what to do before we arrive. Then we dispatch. Clawson is a short run for us at any time of day or night.

Step 2. We walk the house with you for free

Once we are there, the walkthrough comes before anything else. No charge attaches to it and no signature either. We meter the walls and the floor and track the water past the point it stops being visible. In a small Clawson house that path is often shorter in distance and wider in spread than people expect. You see the scope before we start.

Step 3. Water out, drying equipment in

Standing water leaves first, by pump and extractor. We set containment where the layout asks for it. Every air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber gets cleaned and decontaminated before it is carried into your house, with no exceptions to that. Wet material that cannot dry in place is removed, and we explain what is going and why before it does.

Step 4. Daily readings, then your carrier

We come back each day and take moisture readings from the same marked spots, which is the only honest way to know whether the building is drying at the rate it should. Two to four days is the usual span, longer if the loss sat unnoticed. Equipment stays until the readings allow it to go. After that the paperwork follows, charged time and materials under the IICRC S500 standards manual and priced from a current Xactimate list. Invoices go out three to five business days after completion and are due in thirty. On an open claim we document it for your carrier and keep talking to your adjuster until it settles, and GreenSky financing is there if you need it.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Water damage questions Clawson homeowners put to us

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How fast can you get to a Clawson house?

Faster than almost anywhere else we work. Clawson is the nearest community on our service list to our base in Rochester Hills, and it is a straight run down Rochester Road. About an hour is our usual arrival time, and a person is on the phone at every hour of every day of the year. Call the moment you find the water. The first hour is the cheapest hour of the whole job.

Why does a Clawson basement flood with sewage instead of clean water?

Usually the lateral, which is the line running from the house out to the main. Clawson streets were laid out in the 1940s and 1950s and the trees planted along them have had seventy years to grow. Roots find the joints in an old lateral, and once the line is blocked the lowest drain in the house is where it comes back up. That is nearly always a basement floor drain or a laundry tub.

Our Clawson house has been added on to over the years. Does that change a water loss?

It often does. Many houses here carry two or three generations of plumbing, where a remodel put copper or PEX into a wall that still holds galvanized pipe from the 1950s. Old and new metal meeting at a joint is a common place for a failure to start. Additions also change how the floor framing runs, so water takes a route through the house that the original plan would never have allowed.

How many days will drying take in a Clawson home?

Two to four days for most houses, with a bigger loss or one that went unnoticed for a while running past that. We are back every day taking readings from the same marked spots, so the numbers can be compared against each other rather than guessed at. Those readings are what end the job. Equipment stays running until they say the structure is dry, whatever the room looks like by then.

How do you price a water damage job in Clawson, and who pays?

Charges are time and materials measured against the IICRC S500 professional standards manual and priced from a recent Xactimate list, the same list most carriers use. So the invoice reflects hours worked, equipment run and materials used. Where a claim is open we send your carrier the documentation and copy you in. The claim has to be filed by you, since it is your policy, and we carry the rest of it with you. Invoices go out three to five business days after completion, due in thirty.
