Why Grosse Pointe homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup
You get a person on the phone and a crew inside an hour
Somebody answers here at any hour of any day, every day of the year. No recording, no message service, no waiting until Monday. From our base in Rochester Hills we are usually at a Grosse Pointe address in about an hour. Storms coming off Lake St. Clair rarely arrive at a convenient time, and neither do the backups that follow them.
The walkthrough is free and carries no obligation
We come out and look at the damage with you at no charge, and you are not asked to sign anything for it. Moisture meters tell us where the water went, and in these houses that is rarely obvious. We will not hand you a final figure in the hallway. Plaster hides water in ways drywall does not, and a lath wall can read dry right across the face while the cavity behind it is still soaked.
We work directly with your adjuster
We send the documentation to your insurance company, the photos, the moisture readings and the scope notes, and we send you a copy so you can see every line. Your adjuster, your plumber and any other trade on the job hear from us rather than from you. Opening the claim is yours to do, since the policy is yours. Carriers do sometimes pay less than the work warrants, and with proper documentation that is usually something we can get corrected.
A business run by people who came out of the trades
This is a company based in Rochester Hills, and its founders spent their careers in construction, contracting and cleaning before starting it. In a house of this age that background counts for more than it does in a new build. Whether an original plaster ceiling can be dried in place or has to come down is a construction question first. So is knowing which hardwood will flatten out again over a season and which will not.
Plaster, lath and deep old basements are what we deal with here
Much of the housing across the five Pointes dates to the 1920s and 1930s. Plaster over lath, hardwood underfoot, stone or block foundations, and basements dug deeper than modern ones, all built before waterproofing looked anything like it does now. Those materials are worth saving, and they give up water slowly and quietly. Add the older combined storm and sanitary lines under these neighborhoods, and a heavy summer downpour can push water back up through the lowest fixture in the house.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Our water damage repair process in Grosse Pointe, MI
Step 1. Somebody picks up, whatever time it is
You call and a person answers, day or night. We ask what happened, where the water is entering and whether it is still coming, and we tell you what to do before we get there. Then a crew is dispatched. An hour is the usual arrival time in the Pointes.
Step 2. We look at it with you, at no charge
The first visit is a walkthrough and it costs nothing. Nothing is signed. We use moisture meters to trace where the water traveled behind plaster and under flooring, and we show you the readings. You know the scope before any work begins.
Step 3. Extraction first, then the drying gear
We take out standing water before anything else. Containment goes up where the job calls for it, and each air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it enters the house. Material that cannot be dried in place comes out, and we tell you why first.
Step 4. We read the moisture every day
We return daily and take readings in the same locations, so the drying is tracked rather than assumed. Two to four days is the normal span for a structure to reach dry. A crew is generally on site four to eight hours on a working day. The equipment comes out when the numbers say so.
Step 5. Billing, and the claim
After drying is signed off we put the paperwork together. Charges are time and materials measured against the IICRC S500 standards manual and priced from a current Xactimate list. The invoice arrives three to five business days after completion, with payment due in thirty days. Where a claim is open we document everything the carrier needs and keep talking to your adjuster until it is settled.

We offer Water Damage Restoration in Grosse Pointe, MI and surrounding areas.
Grosse Pointe is really five communities, and we work all of them, from the Park through the City, the Farms, the Woods and the Shores. From there we run north to Harper Woods, St. Clair Shores, Roseville and Eastpointe. Mount Clemens, Fraser and Clinton Township sit on the same routes and get covered just as often. Beyond Wayne County our coverage reaches Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Lapeer counties. Somebody answers every hour of the year, which counts for something when a storm rolls off the lake at two in the morning.

“Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!”

What Grosse Pointe homeowners ask us about water damage
Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.
How fast do you get to a Grosse Pointe address?
Our phone is answered by a person at every hour of every day, and we normally reach Grosse Pointe in about an hour. The first hour is worth more than any hour after it. While water is still on the surface the job stays small, and once it is into plaster, subfloor and insulation it is not. Call the moment you find it rather than waiting to see whether it dries on its own.
Our Grosse Pointe house has plaster walls. Can they be dried in place?
Often they can, but it depends on what the readings show rather than on how the wall looks. Plaster over lath holds moisture behind a surface that can appear perfectly dry, so we meter it instead of judging by eye. Where the cavity is drying at a proper rate we leave the plaster alone and keep equipment on it. Where it is not, we tell you straight and explain what has to come out.
Should we wait for the adjuster before calling you in Grosse Pointe?
No. Call us first and let the claim catch up. Water keeps moving while a file is being assigned, and every hour it spends in the structure adds to what has to be dried or taken out. We document the loss as we go, which is what the adjuster will want anyway. Once they are involved we speak with them directly.
Do you handle sewage backups in Grosse Pointe basements?
We do, and it comes up regularly here because older neighborhoods in this area were laid out when storm and sanitary lines ran together. When a downpour puts more water into that system than it can carry, it comes back up through the lowest fixture in the house. That work needs containment, decontamination and measured drying rather than a mop and a fan. Every piece of equipment we bring in is cleaned and decontaminated before it is placed.
How is the work priced and billed on a Grosse Pointe claim?
We charge time and materials against the IICRC S500 professional standards manual and price from a current Xactimate list, which is what most insurers work from. The invoice therefore shows hours, equipment and materials rather than a figure someone picked in advance. We document the loss for your carrier and give your adjuster the paperwork the claim needs, and you receive an invoice as well. Invoices go out three to five business days after the job is finished, and payment is due in thirty days.
