Why Us

Why Macomb County homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup

About an hour to an address anywhere in the county

A person answers our phone at any hour of any day, all year. Not an answering service, and not a message that waits for the morning. We run this county regularly rather than sending a truck across it when a schedule happens to open up, so the usual arrival is about an hour whether the call comes from Eastpointe or from Armada. Once water is inside a building, the speed of the start decides most of the rest.

Free inspection, no signature, no obligation

The first visit costs nothing and there is nothing to sign for it. We bring moisture meters, because the wet you can see is almost never all of it. What we will not do is put a final number on the job at the door. Until a wall or a floor is opened, what sits behind it is unknown, and a price produced before that is a guess dressed up as an estimate.

We handle the insurance side directly

We document the loss for your carrier, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you get the same paperwork too, so nothing is hidden. We speak with the adjuster, the plumber and any other trade working the property. You file the claim, because the policy belongs to you, and we take it from there. If anyone tells you a preferred vendor list is compulsory, it is not. When you hire us, our obligation runs to you.

A local business run by tradespeople

We are based in Rochester Hills, so Macomb County is home ground rather than a service area we visit. Our founders spent their careers in construction, contracting and cleaning before starting the company. That is why a 1950s block basement and a newer poured wall get read differently instead of receiving the same equipment and the same three day plan.

One county, a century of houses, and we read them all

Drive from the Detroit border up to the northern townships and you pass through most of a century of building. Postwar ranches in the south, carrying original drain lines and basements that were finished decades after the house went up. Mid century subdivisions through the middle. Larger, newer homes in the townships that built out most recently, with deeper basements and far more finished space below grade. Farmland past Romeo and Armada, and low ground along Lake St. Clair where heavy rain does its own kind of work.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

The water line to our ice maker burst and caused a huge mess. Once the plumber discovered where the leak was, he recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation. They responded FAST and had dryers going for the floor in our kitchen and basement. Austin was our Mitigation Project Manager, he and everyone on his...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our water damage repair process in Macomb County, MI

Step 1. Call any hour and a person answers

Day or night, somebody picks up. We ask what happened, where the water is showing and whether it is still running, and we tell you what to do until we get there. Then we dispatch the nearest crew. About an hour is the normal arrival across the county.

Step 2. The walkthrough, at no cost

On arrival we walk the building with you. It is free, and nothing is signed for it. Moisture meters trace where the water actually went, which is nearly always further than it appears. Nobody picks up a tool until you have seen what we found.

Step 3. Water out first, equipment next

Standing water is extracted before anything else happens. We build containment where the job calls for it, and each air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it comes through the door. Anything that will not dry in place is removed, with the reason explained first.

Step 4. Daily readings set the schedule

We come back each day and record moisture from the same spots, so the drying is tracked rather than guessed at. The great majority of structures are dry inside two to four days. A crew is normally on site four to eight hours on a working day. The equipment stays until the numbers permit it to go.

Step 5. The invoice and your claim

When drying is signed off, the documentation follows. We charge time and materials against the IICRC S500 standards manual, priced from a current Xactimate list, so every line is backed by something. Invoices go out three to five business days after the job ends and payment is due in thirty days. Where a claim is open we send the carrier everything the file needs and stay in the conversation with the adjuster.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Water damage questions from across Macomb County

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

Which parts of Macomb County do you cover?

All of it. In the south we work Warren, Eastpointe, Roseville, Center Line and Fraser. Through the middle it is Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Utica and Mount Clemens, and along the lake it is St. Clair Shores, Harrison Township, Chesterfield and New Baltimore. In the north we cover Shelby Township, Macomb Township, Washington Township, Romeo, Armada and Richmond. A person answers the phone every hour of the year.

How quickly can you reach an address in Macomb County?

Usually about an hour. Our phone is answered by a person at any time of day or night, so there is no wait for a callback before a crew is even assigned. Speed is the part of this you can still influence. Water sitting on a floor is a far smaller job than water that has spent the night in drywall, subfloor and insulation.

How long does drying take in a Macomb County home?

Two to four days for most structures. A large loss, or one that went unnoticed for days, takes longer. We return every day and take moisture readings from the same locations, and those readings decide when the equipment leaves. A room that looks and feels dry can still be holding water inside the wall, which is exactly why we measure instead of judging by eye.

Do you deal with our insurance carrier on a Macomb County claim?

We do. We document the loss for your carrier, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and we send you the same so you can see every line. We talk to the adjuster and to the other trades on the job, so you are not relaying messages. Filing the claim is your part, because the policy is yours. If a claims specialist tells you a preferred vendor is required, that is not accurate, and hiring us means we are contracted by you.

What if we have no coverage for our Macomb County water damage?

The work still gets done and it is priced the same way. We charge time and materials under the IICRC S500 professional standards manual from a current Xactimate list, so the invoice reflects hours, equipment and materials rather than a number set in advance. Invoices are issued three to five business days after the job finishes, with payment due in thirty days. Financing through GreenSky is available if paying it in one go is difficult.
