Why Us

Why St. Clair County homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup

We answer at any hour and we give you a straight drive time

A person picks up our phone at every hour of every day, all year, with no answering service in between. St. Clair County is wide, and the honest answer on arrival depends on whether you are in Port Huron, out at Capac or down in Algonac. Tell us the address and we will tell you what the drive really is at that hour. We would rather you hear the truth than a number that sounds good on a website.

The inspection costs nothing and commits you to nothing

We walk the property with you free of charge, and nothing is signed to make that happen. Moisture meters show where the water travelled, which in an older house is rarely where it shows. We will not hand you a final price at the door. The scope of a loss is not visible until material is opened, and anyone giving you an exact figure before that is guessing at your expense.

Your adjuster deals with us

We send the carrier our documentation of the loss, and you get the same file too so both copies say the same thing. Adjusters, plumbers and other trades speak to us instead of routing through you. Should a claims representative suggest you must use a vendor from their panel, that is not a requirement. When you hire us, we work under a contract with you.

A company with a long history in this work

We are based in Rochester Hills, and St. Clair County has been part of our territory for a long time. The founders came out of construction, contracting and cleaning before this company started. That background changes what we look at first. Framing, subfloor and insulation get read the way a builder reads them, and we are straight about what has to be taken out.

We know what gets built in St. Clair County

This county is not one kind of building. Port Huron holds old housing, some of it from the late 1800s, with stone and block foundations and additions layered on over the decades. Marysville, St. Clair, Marine City and Algonac run to postwar and mid-century homes near the river. Along the North Channel and the canals around Clay Township, properties sit low and close to the water, and crawl spaces are common. Inland toward Yale, Capac and Emmett you find farmhouses, outbuildings and long driveways, often on well and septic. Each of those dries differently, and we plan for it before the truck leaves.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our water damage repair process in St. Clair County, MI

Step 1. Call any hour and a person answers

There is no recording and no callback queue. We ask what happened, where water is showing and whether the source is stopped, and we tell you what to do while we are on the road. Then we dispatch to your address. Give us the town and we will tell you the real drive time.

Step 2. A free walkthrough before anything starts

We go through the building with you first, at no cost and with nothing to sign. Meters find where the water reached, including inside walls, under flooring and in crawl spaces. You see the same readings we do, and the scope is agreed before a tool is picked up.

Step 3. Water comes out, drying equipment goes in

Standing water is extracted, then containment is built where the job requires it. Every air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it enters the property. Material that cannot dry in place comes out, and we explain why beforehand rather than after.

Step 4. We read the moisture daily

We measure drying instead of guessing at it. Each day the same locations are metered, and the numbers show whether the building is losing water at the pace it should. A structure normally reaches dry inside two to four days. A crew works four to eight hours or more on a visit, and equipment stays until the readings say the job is done.

Step 5. The bill and your claim

Once drying is signed off, the invoicing follows. We charge time and materials measured against the IICRC S500 standards manual and price from a current Xactimate list, which is what carriers already work from. Invoices go out three to five business days after completion and are due within thirty days. If a claim is open, we document everything the carrier needs and stay with the adjuster until it is settled.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

Water damage questions from St. Clair County property owners

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How long does it take you to reach an address in St. Clair County?

It depends where in the county you are, and we will say so plainly. Port Huron, Marysville and Algonac are all different runs, and so is a farm outside Capac. Our phone is answered by a person at any hour of the day or night, and once you give us the address we can tell you the real drive time at that hour. We would rather be honest about it than promise something we cannot hold to.

Do you cover the rural parts of St. Clair County or only the river towns?

We cover the whole county. That includes Port Huron, Fort Gratiot, Marysville, St. Clair, Marine City, Algonac and Clay Township along the water, and it includes Yale, Capac, Emmett, Columbus, Kimball and Memphis inland. Rural properties bring their own conditions, such as crawl spaces, outbuildings, well systems and septic. We plan the equipment for that before we set off rather than discovering it on arrival.

Waterfront and canal properties in St. Clair County flood differently. Do you handle those?

Yes. Along the St. Clair River and the North Channel, and on the canals in and around Clay Township and Algonac, buildings sit low and close to the water. Water can therefore arrive from outside the structure rather than from a failed pipe inside it, and crawl spaces take the worst of it. Wet insulation and saturated framing under a floor have to be dealt with directly, because a crawl space left damp becomes a mold problem in weeks. We meter under the floor as well as above it.

Will you work with my insurance company on a St. Clair County claim?

We will. Where a claim is open we document the loss for the carrier with photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and you get the same file so you can read it line by line. We talk to your adjuster and to any plumber or trade working with us on the property. Filing the claim itself is yours to do because the policy is in your name. Do not wait for the adjuster before calling us, because water does not pause while a claim is being opened.

How do you price water damage work in St. Clair County?

We charge time and materials under the IICRC S500 professional standards manual, priced from a current Xactimate list. That is the same price list most insurance carriers use, which makes the numbers straightforward to review. Your invoice reflects hours actually worked, equipment actually run and materials actually used. It arrives three to five business days after the job is finished and is due in thirty days, and GreenSky financing is available if that helps.
