Our flood cleanup process in St. Clair County, MI
Step 1. You call our office
Once our 24/7 emergency response line hears what happened, dispatch has the crew on its way. If the power is out and you're running a generator, keep it outdoors and well away from windows and doors, never in the garage or a wet basement.
Step 2. We find where the water went
In a house heated by a boiler, a leak at a baseboard heater or its pipe can run along the floor behind the cover. Our background is building, so we pull the covers near the leak, read the wall and flooring behind them and photograph each spot for the assessment.
Step 3. We take the water out
Standing water goes out first. In a bathroom, water often runs under the toilet and vanity, so we may pull the toilet to reach the floor beneath it, and it goes back on during reconstruction. Anything too wet to dry comes out after you see why.
Step 4. We dry it out
Close the fireplace damper while we dry, so heated air isn't drawn up the chimney and damp outdoor air isn't pulled in. Our dehumidifiers and air movers come in decontaminated, a technician takes moisture meter readings daily, and the drying equipment usually finishes in two to four days.
Step 5. We handle the insurance paperwork
We bill within three to five business days of the job ending, sending the invoice and documentation to both you and your insurer and asking the insurer for direct payment. If you've hired a public adjuster for the claim, give us their name, so the paperwork reaches them too.
