Why Us

Why Macomb Township homeowners call us first for water damage cleanup

Someone answers, and a crew rolls within about an hour

Our phone is answered by a person at every hour of every day of the year. No recording, no callback queue. Macomb Township sits inside the area we work every week, so a crew is usually turning onto your street about an hour after you hang up. None of these failures announce themselves, so by the time you find one it has already had a head start.

We inspect for free and you owe nothing for it

Somebody comes out and walks the house with you at no charge, and there is nothing to sign. We bring moisture meters, because in a finished basement the damage you can see is the smallest part of it. We will not give you a final price standing in your kitchen. Until the drywall is opened we cannot say what the framing and insulation behind it are holding, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

We take the insurance conversation off your hands

We document the loss for your carrier and deal with what comes back, and you receive the same paperwork with the same detail on it. Your adjuster, your plumber and any other trade on the job speak to us rather than through you. You open the claim, since the policy is in your name, and we work alongside you from there. A carrier cannot require you to use a company from its vendor list either. Hire us, and it is you we answer to.

Close by, and built out of the trades

We operate from Rochester Hills, so this is a short drive rather than a dispatch across the region. Our founders came out of construction, contracting and cleaning before they started it. On a house of this age that means we know what is inside a wall before it is opened, and we can tell you quickly which finishes will dry and which are already past saving.

We know what is behind the walls in a nineties build

This township was farmland for most of its history and then filled with subdivisions through the 1990s and the 2000s. That leaves an unusual situation: an enormous number of homes at roughly the same age, still on their original mechanicals, all reaching the end of their service life within the same few years. What fails is quiet. A water heater that finally gives out, a braided hose behind the washing machine, a sump pump that quits during the one storm it existed for. It simply runs, and it runs downhill into a deep finished basement.

We found out we had a water leak from our bathroom tub when we brought our newborn home this past winter. It unfortunately needed to be a complete restoration which my husband and I had never gone through before. We were paired with Michelle as our project manager/overseer during this. I have nothing but amazing...

Same story as at least one other reviewer. Our ice maker water line started leaking and created a bigger mess than we realized. Our plumber recommended Response Flood & Fire for mitigation, and they were out the very next day drying out our kitchen floor and basement ceiling. Austin and Clayton were both amazing to...

Wonderful experience during such a stressful time. They came out immediately, the employees were extremely polite and respectful, and kept me updated every step of the way. They also helped guide me through the insurance claims process which seemed overwhelming at first. I would definitely recommend.

They responded FAST and had dryers going for the floor in our kitchen and basement. Austin was our Mitigation Project Manager, he and everyone on his...

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with this company. We had significant flooding after a plumbing repair job went wildly wrong over the weekend. Ryan and Mike did an excellent job, start to finish, in remediating the damage. They were very responsive, professional, and definitely know their...

Our Process

Our water damage repair process in Macomb Township, MI

Step 1. You call and we pick up

Whatever time it is, a person takes the call. We ask what happened, where the water is and whether it is still coming, and we tell you what to do until the truck arrives. Then a crew is on the way. About an hour is normal here.

Step 2. We walk the house with you for free

Nothing gets touched before we have gone through the house together. The walkthrough costs nothing and ties you to nothing. Moisture meters show us how far the water traveled through the finished space downstairs. You see those readings as we take them.

Step 3. Extraction, then the drying setup

Standing water leaves the building first. We set containment where the job needs it, and every air mover, dehumidifier and HEPA scrubber is cleaned and decontaminated before it is placed in your home. Anything that will not dry where it sits is removed, and we tell you why before it goes.

Step 4. Readings, taken daily

We come back each day and take moisture readings from the same points, so progress is visible rather than assumed. Two to four days is normal for a structure to reach dry. A crew works four to eight hours on the days it is here. The equipment stays until the readings say it can leave.

Step 5. Documentation and billing

After the drying is signed off we assemble the paperwork. We bill time and materials measured against the IICRC S500 standards manual and priced from a current Xactimate list, so each line is supported by something. The invoice goes out three to five business days after completion and payment is due within thirty days. On an open claim we document it for your carrier and stay with your adjuster until it closes.

Our restoration project took several months to complete. If you’re going through an insurance claim, be patient, as the process itself can take time. Dandre, who inspected the damage, prepared the estimate, and worked with our insurance company, was knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. Michelle, our project manager, was always responsive, caring, and worked hard to make sure everything was done right. The restoration work was completed by Leo and Augie, and they were outstanding. Leo replaced our tile, completed the plumbing work, repaired our closet organizer, and paid close attention to every detail. Augie did an excellent job painting. They were respectful, hardworking, and treated our home as if it were their own. Overall, although the process took time, the final result was excellent. Thank you, Dandre, Michelle, Leo, and Augie, for your professionalism, dedication, and quality work!

FAQs

What Macomb Township homeowners ask us

Questions we get from our customers' and our answers.

How fast can you get to Macomb Township?

About an hour is our usual arrival, and a person answers the phone at any hour of any day. That first hour is the one that matters. Water still sitting on the floor is a small job, while water that has spent the night wicking up drywall and into insulation is a much larger one. Ring us the moment you spot it.

Our Macomb Township home went up in the 1990s. What tends to fail first?

The original mechanicals, and almost always without warning. Water heaters, braided supply hoses at the washing machine or under a sink, and sump pumps are the usual culprits in houses of that age. None of them make a noise when they go. They simply run until somebody walks downstairs and finds it, which is often hours later.

Our Macomb Township basement is finished. Does all of it have to come out?

Not necessarily, and we will not decide that from the doorway. Moisture readings tell us what is drying and what is not, and we keep whatever the numbers say we can keep. Carpet, pad, drywall taken down to the floor and the framing behind it all behave differently once wet, so each is assessed on its own. Where something has to be removed, we explain the reason before it goes.

How do you know a Macomb Township basement is actually dry?

We take moisture readings in the same locations every day and watch the numbers fall. Most structures reach dry in two to four days, though a large loss takes longer. Those readings release the equipment, not the look of the room and not the number of days that have passed. If the numbers stall, the equipment stays and we find out why.

Do you deal with insurance directly for a Macomb Township loss?

We do. We document the loss for your carrier, photos, moisture readings and scope notes, and we send you the same paperwork so you see the same lines they do. We also talk to your adjuster and to any other trade on the job. Filing the claim is yours to do because it is your policy, but the rest of the back and forth is ours. The invoice follows three to five business days after the work wraps up, and payment is due within thirty days.
